What difference will it make?
On its own a web site and a plan can’t make any difference to the outcomes for people, but we can make a difference by bringing together all the local organisations and agencies who work with and for children and young people, getting them to agree a set of priorities and then making them public.
This is so that people can judge for themselves whether they are being achieved. That is what this site and the plan is all about. If we can make progress on achieving the three themes outlined above then people in North Lincolnshire will notice a difference.
Every Child Matters is the Government's plan to reform and improve children's lives and was written in response to the inquiry into the death of eight-year-old Victoria Climbie.
It affects all children, aged from birth to 19, and aims to improve educational achievement and reduce the levels of ill health, teenage pregnancy, abuse and neglect, crime and anti-social behaviour.
Every Child Matters is intended to help children and young people achieve the five outcomes that matter most to them and their parents and carers. These are:
- being healthy;
- staying safe;
- enjoying and achieving;
- making a positive contribution to society; and
- social and economic well-being.

Each organisation that provides services for children and young people must now work together to put these plans in place. Eventually, key services (education, health, social services etc) will be delivered in each local area through arrangements called Children's Trust arrangements.
In North Lincolnshire, these organisations have formed the Children and Young People's Strategic Partnership the Children's Board to carry out this work.
