North Lincolnshire’s Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB)
The North Lincolnshire LSCB was set up in April 2006 to comply with the Children Act 2004.
LSCB must coordinate and monitor the work done by agencies whose role it is to keep children safe, promote their well-being and protect them from harm.
The LSCB is made up of a group of senior managers from Children and Young People’s Services, Humberside Police, Health Services, Probation, Schools, Colleges and CAFCASS.
The LSCB works alongside the Children’s Trust to ensure that the priorities set within the CYPP to keep children safe are being met.
The LSCB has some specific responsibilities it has to do and these are:
• Developing policies and procedures for staff, who work with children, to follow
• Undertaking reviews when a child has died and abuse or neglect is known or suspected to be a factor
• Having a rapid response process in place when a child has died unexpectedly and reviewing the death to see if anything can be done to prevent future similar deaths
• Communicating and raising awareness in the community about how children can be safe
• Monitoring and auditing how well agencies work together and what they are doing to keep children safe
• Writing an annual review which identifies the progress that has been made against the stay safe priorities and what else needs to be done
